At this point in time my capture equipment consists of the following...
Telescopes:
Takahashi FSQ-106N refractor (wide field imaging)
14" Meade Advanced Ritchey-Chrétien (galaxy & narrow field imaging)
Takahashi FS-60CB (This is my overkill guidescope)
Mount:
Imaging cameras & accessories:
Atik 7 position filter wheel with the following filters:
Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III, Sulfur II, Luminous, Red, Green, Blue
ZWO 5 position filter wheel with Red, Green, Blue.
Astro-Physics CCD67 focal reducer/corrector is used in conjunction with the large Meade telescope to bring the focal length and ratio done to a more manageable level. From F10@3556mm to F6.7@2380mm. This allows significantly less exposure times.
software:
The Sky X by Software Bisque features Planetarium software to control position of the mount. This software controls every aspect of image capture from filter selection, camera selection, focuser position, exposure length, quantity of exposures, sequence of exposures for various filters, etc, guide camera & auto guiding, periodic error correction and much more.
Once the sequence of images is captured, I utilize Astro Pixel Processor to stack, manipulate, correct, and process the initial images. This is a very time consuming process and eats a lot of computer power. Once this process is done I move the images to Adobe Lightroom for cataloging/adjustments. Adobe Photoshop is used for the final image processing and saving to various file formats.
Observatory:
My gear is housed in a Nexdome observatory. The observatory allows for instant use as the equipment is always setup and ready to go. A large concrete footer was poured for the mount pier. The metal pier is anchored to the concrete footer and the mount is attached to the top of the pier.
The observatory is placed on a wood deck with no connection to the pier for a vibration free mount.
Computers:
There is a small tower computer in the observatory with (2) 22" monitors for controlling everything.
My image processing computer is a Dell Precision 7600 Workstation featuring (2) Xeon, quad core processors and 64gb RAM and a 34" monitor.
